Odar:
Riding the lowered, rigid rear-end Savage gives a feeling of firmness and stability because there are no longer any structural connection points that can allow lateral movement, as with the shock absorbers. Another advantage that can be felt is the lower center of gravity, which makes the bike feel more stable in turns, which it is!
The increase in front fork rake is visually noticeable, but moreover, it produces slightly increased "caster", which aids in steering and tracking stability, too. The negative side of the increased caster is that it increases the diameter of the turning circle because a greater portion of the steering axis now tilts toward the horizontal plane, and less in the vertical plane.
But this is no real disadvantage. It certainly isn't the extreme caster (rake) that Peter Fonda had on his chopper in Easy Rider! If you ride mostly on smooth streets and roads, you will really enjoy the stable, "lowrider" effect! I don't have a digital camera yet, but I can send you a regular photo if you give me your address.
